Sacred Remembrance

Sacred Remembrance is a contemporary expression of dhikr—the remembrance and glorification of Allah—centred on the words Subḥānallāhi wa biḥamdih, meaning “Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him.” The calligraphy rises prominently over an intricate field of Persian-inspired motifs, bringing together sacred words and the visual language of Islamic decorative heritage. Repeated medallions, borders and ornamental patterns create the impression of richly layered carpets, while the warm palette of antique gold, bronze, cream and deep earthy tones lends the composition an atmosphere of history and quiet reverence. The artwork places remembrance at its heart—inviting the eye to discover the words before returning again and again to their meaning.

The work is constructed through a considered layering of pattern, mixed-media elements and raised Arabic calligraphy, creating depth beyond a conventional flat composition. The intricacy of the carpet-inspired background is deliberately balanced against the sculptural presence of the central inscription, allowing its flowing forms to emerge distinctly from the surrounding geometry. Subtle variations in tone and detail give the surface an aged, collected quality, while the dimensional calligraphy casts delicate shadows as the light changes.
