Nidaa

Nidaa is a contemporary expression of the sacred call—the moment the heart is drawn towards the House of Allah. Derived from the Arabic idea of a call or proclamation, the title reflects the spiritual invitation that has drawn generations of believers towards the Kaaba. Rising with quiet authority beneath an expansive, starlit sky, the Kaaba becomes the unwavering centre of the composition, while a multitude of abstracted figures gathers below. Individually distinct yet collectively united, they evoke pilgrims arriving from different places, cultures and walks of life before distinctions give way to a shared purpose. Above them, luminous clouds and scattered stars introduce a celestial quality, transforming the scene into something beyond a literal depiction of Makkah—a meditation on longing, response and the extraordinary unity created by faith.

The artwork is developed through a considered interplay of painted atmosphere, layered texture and individually formed dimensional details. Deep teal and midnight tones are softly blended across the sky, with mist-like clouds and delicate points of light creating depth and a sense of infinite space. Against this atmospheric backdrop, the Kaaba is rendered with greater structure and tactile definition, its rich black surface and luminous gold band commanding attention while subtle white and earthy detailing lends architectural character. Below, the congregation is constructed from countless hand-worked marks in white, silver-grey, charcoal, cream and muted gold. Their natural variations in scale, placement and surface prevent the gathering from becoming mechanically repetitive; instead, each mark retains a sense of individuality. The labour involved in building this multitude one element at a time gives Nidaa its distinctive handmade character and ensures that its visual richness cannot be replicated by a printed or mass-produced work.

The cool white-toned frame complements the nocturnal palette while lending the work a refined, contemporary finish suited to modern Islamic, contemporary luxury and sophisticated minimalist interiors.
